Evacuations were underway Friday due to a brush fire burning in the northern Los Angeles County community of Acton. As of 1:40 p.m., the wind-driven Crown Fire was estimated at about 280 acres by 2 p.m. It was reported at about 11:30 a.m., when thick smoke began rising from a canyon area near North Crown Valley Road and Soledad Canyon Road.
